The screams of the mad woman caught the attention of the residents, who rushed to the scene to find the teenager with his pants down raping the woman.
The suspect denied raping the woman. According to him, he had not yet begun before she screamed and attracted people's attention.
Narrating what happened he said that on that day he was drunk and had no idea what came over him.
"I was drunk that day and was walking on the road when I saw the woman who was stark naked and I was aroused by her nudity.
"I did not know what came over me. Maybe I am under a curse but I did not have sex with her because as I removed my trouser and wanted to penetrate her, she screamed and started struggling with me.
It was her scream that alerted the local vigilance men who rushed to the scene. If not for the security men, maybe I would have had sex with her, notwithstanding that she was screaming and struggling. I don't know what came over me."
However, her family members are insisting that he raped her for ritual purposes.
Speaking to newsmen, one of her family members said:"When he was dragged off her, she couldn't get up for more than three to four hours. She was extremely weak. There is no doubt that he used something on her."
The police say the case will be taken to court, though they have to gather enough evidence which includes taking the woman to a hospital for a medical checkup to ascertain if the suspect actually raped her.
The police are, however, having trouble taking her to the hospital as she has refused to go with them.
