Kenya Attack: At Least 14 Killed, Al-Shabaab Claims Responsibility

Al-Shabaab has claimed responsibility for an attack on a residential building in Kenya's Mandera County, a spokesman said Tuesday.

The attack killed at least 14 people and injured 11, Mandera County Commissioner Alex Nkoyo said.
The building primarily housed construction workers.

Al-Shabaab's military operations spokesman Sheikh Abdiaziz Abu Musab, speaking on the group's main broadcaster, Radio Andalus, said the attack had killed more than a dozen of what he described as Kenyan Christians.

He said the attack was part of the Islamist extremist group's Ramadan offensive against Kenya.
Mandera County is in northeast Kenya and borders Somalia and Ethiopia.
