Driver gets six months imprisonment for stealing bus ********************* ******************************* An Abule-Egba Magistrates' Court in Lagos on Thursday sentenced a 28-year-old driver, Ademola Daramola, to six months imprisonment, without an option of fine, for stealing a bus. Daramola, who lives along Railway line, Abule-Egba, pleaded guilty to stealing a passenger bus with registration no, LSD 634 XA. The accused was arraigned on July 31 and detained at the Kirikiri prisons, Lagos, after he pleaded guilty to the offence. In his judgment, the magistrate, Mr Tajudeen Elias, said: "The accused is hereby sentenced to six months imprisonment without an option of fine. "I believe that if you finish serving your jail term, you will be of good character and find work to do. This will serve as a deterrent to others.'' The prosecutor, Insp. Racheal Williams, told the court that the offence was committed on July 28, at Oja-Oba, Abule- Egba. "The accused, used a duplicate key and drove a bus from where it was parked. ''He was arrested by the vigilance group and was handed over to the police. "The bus is owned by one Okolo Robinson and the value is N700 000, " she said. The prosecutor said the offence contravened section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
